Regeneration and Funding
The regeneration and funding team is part of the planning and economic regeneration directorate of East Riding of Yorkshire Council and comprises the local growth team and funding, strategy and programmes team.
Local Growth Team
Local growth is about reshaping the economic conditions in a place by working in partnership with local businesses, communities and voluntary services to promote place-based regeneration and social inclusion to create better places to live, work and visit.
The local growth team leads on the delivery of the ‘Do It for East Yorkshire’ (DIFEY) Community Grant fund. This fund is designed to encourage community groups to organise and deliver events and activities to benefit their community of interest and offers grants up to £5,000 (www.doitforeastyorkshire.co.uk).
The local growth team leads on the development and delivery of the UK Shared Prosperity ‘Communities and Place’ funding, including identifying local needs through town centre action plans and helping groups and organisations to access funding available through this large government programme (www.eastriding.gov.uk/council/grants-and-funding/uk-shared-prosperity-fund/).
The local growth team is also responsible for supporting internal and external organisations to measure their social value. The Social Value Engine (SVE) (https://socialvalueengine.com/) was developed through an innovative partnership between the council and private sector consultancy Rose Regeneration and is a web-based application that provides a robust way to put a monetary value on the intangible social benefits of any project or service.

Funding, Strategy and Programmes Team
The funding, strategy and programmes team comprises three separate teams and covers the areas of major programmes, external funding, strategy and service development.
The programmes team is responsible for securing and ensuring the compliant management and delivery of large-scale multi-area, multi-partner programmes and projects. This includes providing robust project governance and claims management, as well as offering technical advice and guidance in order to maximise central government and other significant funding opportunities.
The external funding team provides strategic and technical support for external funding across the council and the wider East Riding, helping both internal and external customers access funding to achieve their aims. The team also has oversight of the External Funding Strategy, corporate Grants Policy and Grants Manual of Guidance (GMOG) and ensures compliance and best practice in grant management by assisting other council teams to deliver their grant funding through the use of the council’s online grant management system, Flexi-Grant® eastridingofyorkshirecouncil.flexigrant.com/. The team also manages the funding portal, East Riding 4 Community (ER4C).
idoxopen4community.co.uk/er/, where local organisations can search for funding for community projects. For more information, contact external.funding@eastriding.gov.uk
The strategy and service development team oversees the development, delivery and monitoring of the East Riding Economic Strategy. The team also provides updates and analysis of new and emerging policy issues and provides economic data to help inform council policy and decision making. intel-hub.eastriding.gov.uk/local-economic-assessment/
